Buy a Mirror

Buy a mirror.

There are two kinds of people in the world. And you can learn a great deal by their responses to handling a misstep.

Let’s say you are going on a walk and trip on a crack in the sidewalk.

The first kind of person gets critical of the homeowner with the crack in their sidewalk. They look to blame others. They grumble and say things like, “How could someone allow there be such cracks in their sidewalk?” Sometimes these people even talk about suing the homeowner for having a crack in their sidewalk.

The second kind of person gets critical of themselves. They look in a mirror. They tell themselves that they must be more careful in the future and watch out for cracks in the sidewalk.

The first kind of person learns nothing from their experience. The second kind of person seeks to learn and improve from their experience.

Which type of person are you?

When you lose an order, are you critical of the buyer? Do you blame them for not giving you the order? Do you complain that they just didn’t listen to you or they didn’t give you a fair chance? Do you often complain?

Or do you “look in the mirror” and ask yourself what you can learn from your experiences? What you could have done better to earn the order? What you plan to do different in the future to improve your results?

There are only two kinds of people in the world. Which are you? Buy a mirror.
