Fabulous footwear is a staple of fashion insiders and street style bloggers today and has been a hot topic since well before King Louis XIV donned his infamous six-inch heels. New York Magazine‘s fashion blog The Cut posted an article about Julie Benasra’s film God Save My Shoes, a documentary about the female obsession with shoes. The article focuses on women’s love of heels, but I believe the human obsession with footwear extends beyond adding some height. Some men have extensive sneaker collections (Justin Timberlake is rumored to have over 300 pairs), and there is no reason to discount boots and sandals, both of which have their target seasons and therefore target markets.
For promotional shoes, comfort is a necessity. The more comfortable the shoe, the more it will be worn, which means a wider acknowledgment of the brand. Even the fashion industry is embracing podiatrist-friendly shoes, so you might as well consider it for your future promotions.
If you do not want to do a promotion based solely on footwear, you can add shoes to your apparel promotions for extra revenue. Greek life, sports teams, golf clubs and resorts can all use apparel and footwear like these boots, these sandals or these sneaks.
In other shoe news, Nike is coming out with a line of limited edition sneakers based on the Back to the Future pair worn by Michael J. Fox. The shoes are being auctioned to benefit Parkinson’s research. There are only 1500 pairs, so if you are a huge Doc and Marty fan, purchase quickly.
