Is your dad a big fan of baked beans? Specifically, is he a big fan of Bush’s baked beans? Even more specifically, is he a fan of Bush’s baked beans and likes golf gifts for Father’s Day?
If so, buddy, you are in luck.
Bush’s just announced a special Father’s Day collection of branded products, but pretty much keeps it tied into golf.
There are golf balls with the logo on them, a golf head cover meant to look like a can of the famous baked beans, an all-over-print collared shirt with hot dogs and cans of beans, and a hat that just says “Beans.”
Additionally, there’s a bean can neck tie, an apron, socks, a T-shirt with an all-over print of baked beans, a flying disc, a T-shirt with the company’s dog mascot, shoe charms, a bluetooth speaker meant to look like a can of beans, and even something called “bean mints,” which I don’t want to read more about.
A lot of the designs rely on the can motif, which makes sense.
This just goes to show that just about any company can capitalize on a holiday like Father’s Day, or a specific time of year, through branded products.
What Bush’s did was not even necessarily invent new products that are Father’s Day-specific, but just market them for this particular time of year and application.
You will not catch me buying my father Bean Mints, though. Bush’s swears they taste like peppermint but I don’t think my brain could get past the packaging. There’s a lesson in packaging, too.
