Ask the Accountant…
Question: I am new to working in QuickBooks Online. Where can you enter credit card charges?
Answer: QuickBooks Online (QBO) does make this hard to find. If you were recording a bill payment, you just select the method of payment and select the credit card.
The problem arises when you don’t have a bill in QBO. Then, it is hard to find where to record a credit card charge. To do that:
Go to the gear at the top right of your dashboard screen, and then:
- Chart of Accounts
- Scroll down and select the credit card where you want to record entries
- View Register
- On Top Left of screen, Below “Date”, click “Add CC Expense.” It’s here in smaller, greyed out type.
I’m sure QB will make this easier to find, but as of this writing, it is not readily apparent.
