Colorful Couture

Last week was Philly Fashion Week. I could only make it to one show, but I think I picked the right one. It was outside in center city Philadelphia on a gorgeous fall evening. The models strutted around a large fountain as spectators sat nearby. The classic and brightly hued looks that graced the runway will definitely inspire some warm weather wears for your upcoming programs. (Excuse the blurriness of some of the pictures. I have yet to master a steady hand while shooting phone pictures of moving targets. Also, hat tip to Instagram for jazzing them up a bit.)

Cory Couture
Cory Couture showed a lot of playfulness with color and pattern. Don’t be afraid to mix unconventional hues to create a bold look, for example a peach imprint on a purple shirt or bright green on orange. Use the color schemes above as inspiration.

Henry Davidsen
The menswear line showed fitted suits in navy and gray solids and stripes. Thick ties and pocket squares were also common so try to incorporate those accessories into your corporate wear or uniform programs.

Kevin Love (KE Collection)
The line showed nautical looks in red, white and navy. Embellishments like oversized buttons added drama to the clean lines of the looks. Other big trends were bold prints and cinched waists.
The event reminded me of the great time I had in Canada at the Ash City show and the high-energy Fashion-EAST-a show at Promotions East. I look forward to seeing more Philadelphia and promotional shows in the future.
