Color Forecast

As the temperature outside drops into the single digits here in Philadelphia, I find myself donning layers of dark clothing because it’s the easiest and warmest option. Also, my outfits have the added benefit of being clash-proof because everything is in the same muted tone. These dark duds make the cold weather gloomier because there is nothing to light up the bleak sky.

Though winter feels like the perfect time for a monochromatic style, it’s the opposite. Throw on some bright colors and you’ll feel brighter. It might not physically warm you, but it will improve your mood which makes that long trek to, well, anywhere in this weather much less tasking.

Studies show that yellow and light blue make you feel happy, while gray and dark blue make you feel sad. This is not universally true in the promotional products industry. Solid neutrals like white, gray and black are steadily popular, but an influx of color has made its way into the 2011 catalogs of apparel suppliers. Take for example the Jonathan Corey Ring-Spun Combed Cotton Pique from Staton Corporate & Casual in jade. The vivacious color is warm, friendly and logo-ready. The green-blue shade is appropriate year-round, which makes it a great addition to any closet of branded apparel. If jade is not your preference, consider the Tri-Blend Deep V from Next Level Apparel in banana cream. The yellow evokes sunshine and will liven up the dreariest of days.

Still not enticed? Take a look at the online catalogs of Staton Corporate & Casual, Next Level Apparel and any other apparel supplier in this industry and you will find a multitude of colors in each style. The vast color wheels of apparel suppliers is a great and unique aspect of the promotional products industry. Finding a style and color you and your client like is easy because suppliers offer so many options.

If a bulk order of bright shirts is not appropriate for your client or a specific event, consider bright stitching. A pewter shirt with a lavender logo is original without standing out too much.

As is evident in this industry, beauty (and promotion) is in the details.
