The Los Angeles Business Journal announced the selection of Jake Himelstein, chief financial officer of Los Angeles-based distributorship BAMKO Inc., as the Private Company CFO of the Year 2015. Himelstein received the award during the Los Angeles Business Journal’s CFO of the Year ceremony held at the Millennium Biltmore hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
In June 2013, Himelstein made the transition from serving multibillion dollar private equity firms at Deloitte & Touche to becoming the chief financial officer at BAMKO Inc.
Citing his “refusal to be satisfied with the status quo,” the Los Angeles Business Journal highlighted Himelstein’s evolving role in leading BAMKO Inc.’s programming, human resources, information technology and risk management departments as reasons for his selection.
“I could not imagine a more deserving recipient for this award,” said Philip Koosed, BAMKO Inc.’s CEO. “Jake is a shining example of skill, teamwork and dedication to his craft. We are thrilled that others outside of BAMKO are able to recognize the invaluable leadership from Jake that we inside of BAMKO have the good fortune to benefit from every single day.”
In April 2014, BAMKO Inc.’s executive management team began discussing the adoption of a new finance and accounting ERP to replace its aging systems. Himelstein led a team of 15 people across three continents, working together to complete the seamless NetSuite implementation. BAMKO Inc. went live with NetSuite on Oct. 1, 2014—three months ahead of schedule and 50 percent under budget. The initiative was regarded as such a smashing success that Himelstein was invited to give a featured presentation at NetSuite’s annual SuiteWorld conference.
