Indianapolis-based Norwood Promotional Products announced the company will relocate its Souvenir Writing Instruments operation to its Red Wing, Minn. facility.
The Souvenir Writing Instruments facility was catastrophically impacted by the June flood of the Cedar River and has been operating out of the Red Wing site since that time. “Since it was quickly apparent that returning to the Souvenir facility would be a risk—both to the business and the safety of our employees,” explained Paul Lage, president and CEO of Norwood, “we [had] been temporarily operating Souvenir out of Red Wing.”
During that time, Norwood conducted an evaluation of available production sites in the Cedar Rapids area. After a thorough analysis, it was decided to relocate operations to the Red Wing site as it has the space to accommodate the Souvenir production line. “This is a good opportunity for Red Wing—we will be adding over 100 new positions to accommodate their production capacity,” commented Tim Dunford, general manager of Norwood’s Red Wing operation. Due to the ongoing collaboration between Red Wing and Cedar Rapids sites since the flood, Norwood expects the transition to be seamless for customers and it should be completed by the end of November of this year.
“I want to thank our Red Wing and Cedar Rapids associates who have kept the Souvenir operation going,” Lage added. “Their dedication has been truly impressive throughout this challenging time for us.” Norwood also announced it is committed to offering opportunities and relocation assistance to all associates willing to relocate to Red Wing or another Norwood site.
