According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Mount Arlington, New Jersey-based Mars Retail Group’s M&M’s-branded jewelry has been recalled due to a violation of the lead standard. The jewelry reportedly can contain high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by young children.
The approximately 52,400 pieces of jewelry include children’s jewelry, earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces sold between May 2015 and July 2016. The collection of items were sold at M&M’s World Stores in N.Y.; Orlando, Fla.; Las Vegas; and Henderson, Nev. The pieces retailed for between $6 and $18, and each features an M&M’s logo “M” as a charm.
The CPSC reported no injuries or incidents in conjunction with the products, but consumers should cease using them and ensure the products are kept out of the reach of children.
