“Avaline is proud to be a part of a great industry with a history of giving back,” said Leonard Hornstein, CEO of Parsippany, New Jersey-based supplier Avaline. “We feel our Bronze Level donation ($12,000) to the PPEF Tomorrow Fund is an appropriate contribution given our size and financial plan over the next few years.”
Hornstein believes higher education is important to all businesses and all Americans. “We compete in a global economy where jobs are exported to low-cost providers all over the world. We cannot stop this natural flow, but we can retrain and educate our people so they gain new skills to replace the commodity skills being exported.”
After Hurricane Katrina, Avaline employees took great pride in being a part of the company team that raised $55,000 to donate to the Red Cross. Hornstein said, “Having employees feel good about the organization for which they work and represent improves the quality of work and promotes company spirit. Our support of the PPEF Tomorrow Fund furthers that company pride.” Even though Avaline does not have a formal scholarship program, Hornstein says the company continues to provide support and financial aid to employees who are motivated to improve their job skills.
PPEF was organized to foster education for industry employees and their dependents by providing financial assistance through scholarships and grants for pursuing educational opportunities. PPEF was founded by industry leaders as a way to give back to the promotional products community. The children of every industry employee, from office staff to screen printers, are eligible for PPEF scholarships.
