Color Image Apparel, Los Angeles, the parent company of Bella brands—Bella, Bella Girl, Bella Baby and a men’s line, Canvas—has announced the launch of Alo, a performance apparel line to address the growing need of high-quality, fashionable, long-lasting apparel for busy lifestyles. The line will debut at the PPAI Expo in Las Vegas, Jan. 2-6, 2007.
The name Alo stands for Air, Land, Ocean, and combines performance-driven fabrications, technical features and sport-inspired designs to create a look and feel that can be worn for almost any occasion. Set to launch with 14 men’s and 15 women’s styles, the garments feature special treatments applied to the fabric: CoolFit, a dry wicking feature that draws moisture to the exterior of the garment for quick evaporation; StretchFlex, a fabric that allows two-way stretch to provide comfort, freedom of movement and lasting recovery; an antimicrobial treatment that helps keep clothes odor-free for multiple uses; an anti-pilling treatment; and water resistance designed to help shed water on the outer surface of the garment, repelling wind and light rain.
“The need for performance apparel in the wholesale market is growing,” said Abby Gordon, vice president of sales. “As the retail market opens up for these kinds of products and people’s lives continue to get busier, active apparel makes sense.”
The Alo line utilizes 10 performance fabrics to make up a complete men’s and women’s line of products, with everything from polo shirts to micro-fleece pullovers, and sleeveless tees to technical outerwear and athletic pants. Custom fabrics, such as Alo’s Birdseye knit jacquard, a textured surface with a micro mesh-like appearance, were developed because of their breathability and high performance. Another custom fabric used in the women’s line is the peached knit jersey fabrication, characterized by a soft, matte finish and an elegant feel. Each style was created utilizing sport-designed contrast colors, special seaming, piping or multiple fabrications.
Alo products contain limited labeling, allowing each item to be easily embellished in multiple locations. The full product line will be available in January through the following wholesale apparel distributors: Bodek and Rhodes (California, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania); Golden State Tees (California); Heritage Sportswear (Ohio); Imprints Wholesale (Colorado, Kansas, Nevada, Ohio, Washington, Wisconsin); Mission Imprintables (California); S&S Activewear (Illinois); Staton Corporate & Casual (California, Florida, Tennessee, Texas); and Virginia T’s (Florida, Indiana, Virginia).
