The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that Altar’d State, Knoxville, Tenn., is recalling its Monogrammed Coffee Mugs due to a fire hazard. The mugs are mislabeled as microwave-safe, but the company received a report that the metallic paint accents on the mug can spark in the microwave.

The 16 oz. mugs have gold-painted monograms and accent rims. The mugs have a textured design similar to a golf ball, and a “rope” style handle. They also have a black panel on the bottom with “Microwave/Dishwasher Safe” printed on it.

The mugs were available at Altar’d State stores nationwide from October 2015 through December 2015.

Altar’d State received one complaint of a mug sparking during microwaving, but has not received any reports of injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the mug and contact Altar’d State for information on returning the product for a full refund.
