Balenciaga’s PlayStation 5 Apparel Costs More Than the Actual Console

It’s been darn near impossible to buy a PlayStation 5. Which is a shame, because they dropped at a time where people are more willing than ever to stay home and play video games.

Gamers have also noticed that the consoles are getting more expensive due to their power and output. A PS5 with a disc drive will cost you $499, for example.

But that’s still less than a PS5 co-branded Balenciaga shirt.

Balenciaga got clever with its virtual fashion show this year, releasing it as a computer game called “Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow,” where the player tours different settings like a Balenciaga store to check out the newest items. Keeping that video game theme alive, Balenciaga partnered with Sony to release PS5 apparel, including a T-shirt that costs $675.

The T-shirt and hoodie feature the PlayStation button icons, the PS5 logo, and the word “balenciaga” written in the PlayStation font, as well as “Nov 2020” to commemorate the console’s release.

The hoodie will run you a cool $875, almost as much as two of the highest-level PS5 consoles, and the $675 T-shirt comes in both black and red.

If you want some PS5 gear, but the Balenciaga drop just a little out of your price range, Input Magazine reassured us that Sony soon plans to work with Nike on a co-branded sneaker, which will run a much more reasonable $120.

There’s no doubt that these Balenciaga shirts will resurface on the resale sites soon, and maybe even those original list prices will look quaint in comparison.
