BAMKO Closes Dec. 10 for Global Mental Health Day

BAMKO, Los Angeles, announced this week that it will close its global operations today, Dec. 10, for a company-wide mental health day.

“BAMKO’s Global Mental Health Day came about as a direct response to feedback we received from our team,” Stephanie Bass, director of global human resources for BAMKO, said in an email. “Our employees are our most valuable asset, and we would be nothing without each and every one of them. That being said, BAMKO, like many other companies right now, is facing a work/life balance obstacle. Our employees are so incredibly committed to their jobs and their teammates that they are finding it hard to set boundaries and properly ‘turn off’ now that we are all working from home. We wanted to acknowledge that we have heard our team by taking action and leading by example.”

BAMKO created a video announcing the news of the mental health day to its team, with soundbites from company leadership at all of BAMKO’s global offices sharing the news. Additionally, BAMKO provided each employee with a year’s subscription to the Calm app, which teaches meditation and relaxation techniques.

“We hope that by giving our employees this tool, in addition to the much needed time to recharge and reset, that they will take stock of their mental state and prioritize their overall well-being,” Bass added.
