Carter Newman knows caps.
He’s bringing that knowledge to Counselor Top 40 supplier Cap America.
The Missouri-headquartered company has hired Newman as national sales manager for its sporting goods division. Newman will collaborate with sales leader Tim Nixon to spearhead growth initiatives within the division. He’ll be overseeing the external sales team and working closely with the internal crew to power sales, operations and service, executives said.
“Carter’s profound industry knowledge and extensive relationships are tremendous assets that will undoubtedly contribute to our ongoing success and solidify our position as a market leader in decorated team headwear,” said Cap America CEO Mark Gammon.
Before joining Cap America, Newman spent about 12 years in sales roles with supplier Augusta Sportswear (asi/37461). His positions there included director of headwear, Pacific Headwear. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Augusta University.
Newman said Cap America’s “customer-focused approach and commitment to providing the best service in the industry are what sets them apart as a leader in the headwear space, and I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to join such a dynamic and fast-growing organization.”
Founded in 1985, Cap America provides headwear through in-stock, custom overseas and USA-made knit solutions. Based on reported 2022 North American promotional products revenue of $76.8 million, Cap America ranked 23rd on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.
