Caps Fans Really Want Those Bud Light Shirts (And Other Promo Items)

Remember those creative Bud Light shirts that played off of Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie chugging a beer through his jersey? Well, it turns out a lot of Caps fans want to emulate Oshie’s off-ice antics, because the shirt is selling for big bucks online.

Many of the shirts are listed on eBay at the usual going rates for this kind of thing—between $20 and $40. But some people are putting a lot of faith in Washington fans’ demand for the shirt, with some listings as high as $90.

Several of the shirts have multiple bids, with one 2XL shirt currently sitting at $86 on 10 bids with 23 hours left to go. Another shirt even sold for $100!

It’s not just the shirts, either. The promotional Stanley Cup Champions banner, which was a Geico-branded stadium giveaway this month, is going for as high as $175 on eBay.

Capitals fan blog Russian Machine Never Breaks pointed out that the banners, which were given out on opening night, are selling like hotcakes (hot banners?), as are the ticket stubs for even going to the game.

It appears that the symbol of being there when they raised the banner is worth about $70 for some Caps faithful.

Just for good measure, let’s point out Bud Light’s incredibly on-brand ad placement in the Caps’ Capital One Arena:

Dilly dilly indeed, folks.
