The Family Business Association (FBA) honored Charles River Apparel, Boston, at a recent ceremony in Cambridge, Mass. The company was one of 19 businesses selected for this honor among hundreds. The FBA Awards recognize the importance of family businesses in the state and the critical role these companies play in providing significant employment opportunities and revenue generation, as well as economic development and growth in their communities, the state and the region.
The FBA chose honorees from a variety of successful companies across Massachusetts, which represent small, mid-size and large companies (employees and revenue), as well as first-generation businesses.
The Oct. 22 event featured Todd Blount, president of Fall River, Massachusetts-based Blount Fine Foods, as the keynote speaker. The fifth-generation family-owned company was established in 1880, and produces gourmet and specialty refrigerated and frozen gourmet soups, sauces, side dishes and entrees for food service, restaurants and retailers.
WBZ-TV’s David Wade served as the event’s master of ceremonies.
The FBA offers educational programs and a platform for family businesses to share their knowledge, experiences and expertise while navigating the inherent challenges that are unique to family-owned companies. Award finalists received access to special FBA resources throughout the year, including events, seminars and media opportunities, all designed to help these companies reach their strategic goals, growth and success.
“We are thrilled to celebrate family businesses whose accomplishments and particular success stories are not told nearly enough, and whose contributions power Massachusetts’ economic engine and continue to be the backbone of what has, and will, continue to drive the U.S. economy ” said Jeffrey Davis, FBA’s founding director.
