The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and St. Louis-based Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Co. have recalled Kaldi’s Disposable Cup Sleeves. The sleeves can ignite when heated in a microwave, posing a fire hazard, according to the CPSC.
Kaldi’s received two reports of the sleeves catching fire, but no reported injuries.
About 700,000 of the U.S.-made sleeves were sold with 12 and 16 oz. hot drinks at Missouri Kaldi’s locations from February 2014 to March 2015. THe sleeves are black with “Kaldi’s Coffee” and the company logo printed on the front and “100% Recycled Paperboard” printed on the back. Consumers should discard the sleeves immediately.
