Colorado State Patrol Rewards Safe Drivers With Branded Gifts

Residents of Craig, Colo., were rewarded for driving safely to the local Walmart yesterday. About 20 shoppers were given small promotional gifts for arriving to the parking lot wearing their seat belts.

The program was created by Colorado State Patrol Craig Regional Communication Center dispatch staff, who took it upon themselves to raise awareness for the importance of seat belts.

The Craig event is the first one across the town, as CSP staff will be in parking lots wearing CSP polo shirts, sweatshirts and lanyards. They’ll camp out at spots like parking lots, intersections and on the street to look for safe drivers.

“We will be in parking lots at businesses and schools watching for people pulling in wearing seat belts,” CSP dispatch supervisor Carlene Sanders told the Craig Daily Press. “We will thank them for buckling up and give them swag.”

“I think it’s great, especially for the younger generation,” one shopper told the Craig Daily Press. “I always have to remind my kids to buckle up.”

Parents may not have to remind their kids so often if they thought getting some free stuff was a possibility.
