HALO Branded Solutions and the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for promotional children’s projector flashlights. The flashlights are being recalled because children could disassemble the product and access batteries, creating a choking or ingestion hazard.

About 84,500 of the flashlights were distributed at hospitals and healthcare facilities from February to June 2021, and were decorated with various Disney branding logos, such as Pixar, “Star Wars,” ESPN, “Avengers” and more. They came as part of a branded kit that included a tote bag, silicone bracelet, playing cards, pen, journal, decals and postcards.
“Several years ago we established and tested a product recall protocol that was reviewed and approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Ombudsman,” Terry Maguire, senior vice president of HALO, told Promo Marketing. “When our client notified us of the concern, we immediately implemented the voluntary recall steps detailed in our recall plan and in coordination with Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidance.”
So far, CPSC has received two reports of children accessing the batteries, and one case of a child requiring surgery to remove a swallowed battery.
The CPSC recommends that recipients take the flashlight away from children immediately, stop using it, and contact HALO Branded Solutions to receive a full refund and pre-paid shipping label to return the item. Once HALO receives the item, they will send the customer a $5 gift card redeemable at a major national retailer.
HALO has set up a web page to handle refund requests. For more information, visit www.cpsc.gov.
