Crystal D Donates to Coats for Kids Program

On October 15, Crystal D, St. Paul, Minn., donated 50 coats and dozens of hats, scarves and mittens to the Salvation Army’s Coats for Kids program.

Crystal D employees collected coats and warm weather accessories at the corporate headquarters. These coats were dropped off at the local Salvation Army Boutique where they were sold at a reduced price to people in need on October 22.

“I personally participated in this program last year but wanted to make a bigger impact this year, so we organized a company-wide donation opportunity” said Cathy Klein, accounting and human resources manager and community outreach coordinator for Crystal D. “I saw several babies come to the event wrapped in a towel because they didn’t have a coat. Also some of the older kids told me that they weren’t allowed to go outside for recess because they didn’t have a coat. Contributing to the program gives many people a lot of joy; even I walk away feeling very blessed.”

Since 1886, The Salvation Army has been providing social and spiritual services to communities throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. People given purpose, hearts given hope and souls finding redemption- this has been their mission for more than a century. Minnesota is part of the Northern Division of the Salvation Army.
