Philadelphia’s Bodek and Rhodes’ coworkers and company owners recently joined forces to celebrate one account representative’s successful battle with breast cancer. Anna May Burns recently finished her treatment for the disease and received a clean bill of health.
“I’m just so fortunate,” said Burns, who ended her therapy for breast cancer this summer. “Everyone here was so supportive. And not just people I work with, it was also the customers. If I wasn’t in the office, customers would ask if it was okay if they called me at home! All the flowers and calls from customers were so sweet.”
As coworkers and two of Burns’ sisters planned a surprise celebration, one customer, Michael LoNigro at Port Jefferson Sporting Goods, volunteered to donate pink T-shirts with a custom design that read, “Way to go Anna May! You kicked its butt!”
Of Burns, LoNigro said, “We work with her very closely and she’s amazing to work with. She’s very special to us and we wanted to be there for her. Every day I talked to her, I’d tell her she was going to kick its butt, so that’s naturally what we put on the T-shirt.”
Said Mike Rhodes, Bodek and Rhodes’ president, “It’s no surprise we’ve gotten such an outpouring of support for Anna May. It really says a lot about her, that so many people, including customers, really care. She’s just a sweet, sweet lady who’s loved by our family here, as well as her family of customers and I’m very thankful that she’s doing so well.”
