Delta Apparel, the Duluth, Georgia-based apparel manufacturer, announced record growth for the third quarter, ended April 2, 2011. Net sales for the period were $125 million, a $17 million increase over the same period in 2010. Over one third of the company’s sales were in their branded apparel division, which saw a 17.5 percent increase to $54.3 million in sales.
“Delta Apparel Inc.’s marketing and merchandising initiatives in both business segments, coupled with favorable manufacturing performance and our continued ability to leverage our fixed costs, were the key components in delivering this significant earnings expansion on double-digit revenue growth,” said Robert W. Humphreys, chairman and CEO for Delta Apparel. “We feel having a vertically integrated manufacturing platform in the western hemisphere is a strategic advantage, allowing us to meet the needs of retailers on price, quality and speed of delivery.”
The company held a conference call on Thursday, April 28 to discuss the findings. A recording of that call can be heard until May 27 at (858) 384-5517. The access code for the replay is 8828577.
