Delta Apparel, Duluth, Ga., announced that it will close its textile manufacturing facility in Maiden, N.C., and will cut 160 jobs in order to reduce costs.
According to a press release, the company plans to invest $7 million to expand its overseas operations, and will transition production from the Maiden facility to its facility in Honduras.
After the transition, the company expects to increase its earnings by 70 cents per share.
“While conditions in the retail apparel marketplace have shown little improvement, we have made significant progress both financially and operationally,” said Robert Humphreys, chairman CEO of Delta Apparel. “Delta Apparel is now more streamlined and focused on areas that offer the greatest potential for profitable growth.”
