According to a report by Business Insider, FedEx Corp announced that it would increase shipping rates, effective January 2015. The rate increase will apply to the company’s express, ground and freight services within the united States, Canada and Mexico, as well as international shipping between the U.S. and Canada and between the U.S. and Mexico.
FedEx had already increased their freight shipping rates by 3.9 percent back in March of this year.
The announcement came shortly after the U.S. Postal Service lowered its Priority Mail rate on September 7 of this year, making it cheaper to purchase postage online, as reported by Ecommerce Bytes.
Unlike USPS’ First Class mail service, Priority Mail is a direct competitor with the likes of FedEx and United Parcel Service, who also raised their freight shipping rates by 4.4 percent in March.
The FedEx price increase will take effect on Jan. 5, 2015.
