Harry & David Announces Reorganization and Names Two Executive Appointments

Promotional product and retail gift company Harry & David, Medford, Ore., has announced the hiring of two new executives as part of its reorganization announced Monday. David Rogalski has been appointed to the position of vice president, corporate controller and chief accounting officer, and Charles Hunsinger has been appointed to the position of senior vice president and chief information officer.

Rogalski previously held the title of vice president of finance and corporate controller for Norwood Promotional Products, and also held the same position with Cornerstone Brands. He comes to Harry & David from ecoFridge, where he served as chief financial officer.

Hunsginer brings with him a long history in the I.T. world, having previously worked in executive positions with Corporate Express, acquired by Staples in 2008, and online retailer Musician’s Friend. His hiring signals the company may look to focus more on e-commerce as part of its restructuring.

In March, Harry & David filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection following a difficult 2010, particularly the last quarter of the year. After receiving a $100 million line of credit and announcing the new hires and other changes, the company anticipates it will exit bankruptcy late this summer.

“The filing of our Plan of Reorganization and Disclosure Statement is a vital step toward Harry and David’s successful emergence from the Chapter 11 reorganization process,” said Kay Hong, chief restructuring officer and interim chief executive officer, in a press release. “Our employees, customers, suppliers and other supporters have been instrumental in our ability to reach this important milestone, and we deeply appreciate their support.”
