Hozier Makes Fun Change to Merch Website After Fan’s Twitter Suggestion

When people are using it for good and not evil, Twitter can prove an interesting form of communication. For user Nat Dali, who goes by the handle @chastitysundae on the social networking service, the platform just became a way for her to compel the musician Hozier to modify his website. At Dali’s suggestion, the singer, most famous for the hit “Take Me to Church,” updated the link title directing to his merch page to now say “Take Me to Merch.”

The advice came at a great time for the performer, whose second studio album, “Wasteland, Baby!,” recently topped The Billboard 200 chart. Certainly the owner of a jovial mood thanks to that feat, the award winner, who is set to turn 29 on Sunday (how cool is it, by the way, that an Irishman can celebrate his birthday on St. Patrick’s Day?), noticed Dali’s tweet and addressed it rapidly, with the “Take Me to Merch” option appearing as the final component of his homepage.

When users click the link, they will find themselves looking at a “Wasteland, Baby!” T-shirt and tote, but if they are not solely sold on helping Hozier to tout the 14-track disc, they can also inspect a customized beanie, flask, journal, muscle tank, sweatshirt, buttons and key chains. He figures to move plenty of those items, as he has commenced a “Wasteland, Baby!” tour that tonight will take him to Norfolk, Virginia’s Chrysler Hall, and he’ll be among the headliners for this summer’s Ireland-situated Electric Picnic.

Dali deserves some major kudos for having made this punny observation to the masses, and good for Hozier that he took a great idea and played his part in helping wordplay admirers geek out just ahead of making purchases. From a promotional point of view, every bit of assistance helps when one is looking to match goods to an audience’s preferences, so if a pun can be an aid, we are all for becoming familiar with those who excel in offering creative takes on common utterances, and we certainly align ourselves with those who think Dali should score some free merchandise for her humorous tip.
