HPG Acquires Webb Company

HPG, Braintree, Mass., announced today that it has acquired Eagan, Minnesota-based supplier Webb Company in a deal finalized on Aug. 31. This marks HPG’s eighth acquisition since 2017, and expands HPG’s product offering into the personal care product category thanks to Webb’s supply of hand sanitizer products, lip balm and mints.

As part of an existing expansion strategy, Webb will double its site production’s capability by the end of 2020, and will serve as a hub for HPG’s personal care product line.

Family-owned, the Webb Company was founded in 1986 by Alan Webb, who has served as the company’s CEO since its beginning. Daniel Webb, president of Webb Company, will stay on in an expanded role as vice president of business development for HPG.

“Webb Company’s manufacturing expertise, combined with our fulfillment, drop-shipping, and a wide variety of large-scale, quick turnaround decorating capabilities, has enabled us to make our distributors excel—even in the face of widespread hand sanitizer shortages,” Daniel Webb said in a press release. “Now, I am excited to take our business to a whole new level by partnering with HPG.”

Webb’s Minnesota facility joins HPG subsidiary Beacon Promotions as the second production site in Minnesota.

“After more than 30 years in the industry, it was important to me to find the right partner and ensure Webb Company is positioned for future growth and 30 more years of success,” Alan Webb said. “Based on their impressive rise and track record of acquiring several other high-quality suppliers—such as Hub, Origudio, Deco, Best Promotions, Cooler Graphics, HandStands, BCG and our neighbors at Beacon Promotions—HPG was my first call, and I could not be more pleased with the outcome.”

“When evaluating potential acquisitions, we start with the question ‘How will this benefit our customer?’” said Chris Anderson, CEO of HPG. “In this case, the answers were clear and compelling. With Webb’s expertise in personal care—and, specifically, USA-made hand sanitizers—their addition to the HPG family provides our distributor partners with a wide array of high-quality personal care products make in the heartland and backed by the power and reach of HPG. By adding these key personal care categories to our already broad range of hard goods, we have made it even easier for our customers to do business with HPG.”
