California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday issued a statewide order for all residents to “stay at home” amid the coronavirus outbreak. Gov. Newsom projects that, without mitigating factors, roughly 56 percent of the state’s 40 million people will be infected with COVID-19 over an eight-week period.
The stay at home order is in place until further notice, and includes the staff at the Origaudio Fountain Valley, Calif., production facility. In response, HPG has urgently moved a large portion of U.S. Origaudio order fulfillment and inventory to the Handstands facility in Utah, along with the BEST Promotions facility in Texas to prevent any potential disruption to distributors.
This is familiar territory for Origaudio. In 2019, Origaudio successfully moved Canadian production to another HPG subsidiary, Deco, and plans were already underway to have Hub produce and ship Origaudio orders from the East Coast to reduce lead times for customers.
Despite the recent earthquake in Utah, Handstands is fully operational and has already been supplementing core parts of Origaudio’s decorating processes for almost a year. thanks to Handstands’ close proximity to the West Coast, matching imprint expertise and larger capacity, the transition has been relatively straightforward.
“This is a surreal time for everyone,” said Jason Lucas, co-founder of Origaudio and senior vice president of marketing and innovation for HPG. “Firstly, our priority is to keep our staff and their families safe and healthy. Second, we’re grateful, once again, to be part of the HPG family, and therefore capable of flexing on short notice to the Handstands facility in Utah and the BEST facility in Texas. We do not expect any disruptions at this time, and our accounts team is standing by for any customer inquiries. We know this is already a difficult time for the world, our country, our distributors and our staff, so we are glad to have a solution in place to keep the Origaudio brand going during these difficult times.”
