LeBron James Introduces ‘More Than a Vote’ Branded Apparel Line to Benefit Social Activism Group

LeBron James has never shied away from making his beliefs known, and has always tried to use his platform to help others.

Since he’s pretty much the biggest name in sports all over the world, his word carries a lot of weight. So, when James introduces a product line that encourages social activism, you know people are going to buy it. And if they’ve never thought about the causes near to James’ heart, maybe they will now.

James’ latest foray into social activism is the “More than a Vote” campaign, which works to register poll workers, open more voting centers and help people pay necessary fees to qualify for voter registration. That’s great stuff on its own, but of course James wants to spread the word to as many people as he can. He did that through a pretty well-stocked merchandise store on the organization’s website.

It includes multiple T-shirt designs, multiple sweatshirt designs, hats, long-sleeve T-shirts, a tote bag, a Carhartt duffel bag and more. Also, according to Yahoo, all of the money is going toward the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, an organization that works to “secure equal justice for al through the rule of law, targeting in particular the inequities confronting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities.”

A lot of the T-shirts play upon this message of fighting for equality, like a T-shirt with a fist that says “I am here,” or a “dad hat” that says “Change isn’t made by watching from the sidelines.”

The NBA has really gone the extra mile as the season winds down when it comes to social justice and making their political stances known. Again, as the NBA’s biggest star, James doesn’t have to do any of this. He could just coast and collect his zillions and chill. But, to use the power that comes with his name to directly benefit a cause is admirable, especially with the branded merchandise tie-in.

We still don’t like the Lakers, though. Sorry, Bron.
