Liqui-Mark Corp. Celebrates 40 Years in Business

Liqui-Mark Corp., a Hauppauge, New York-based company specializing in manufacturing writing instruments, school and office supplies, is celebrating its 40th year in business.

Founded in 1974 by Stuart Goodelman in Brooklyn, N.Y., Liqui-Mark grew by manufacturing private label markers and pens to some of the nation’s largest mass marketers. In 1985, Goodelman expanded the business with his own line of Liqui-Mark branded products that appealed to the mass retail and commercial sellers of school and office products.

Today, Liqui-Mark writing instruments continue to succeed in the mass retail market, being carried by the likes of CVS, Family Dollar, Big Lots, Michaels, Staples, Walmart and other major retailers, along with commercial school and office catalog wholesalers and distributors.

With its headquarters in New York, Liqui-Mark continues to manufacture more than 65 percent of its products domestically.

“At our home location we design products, injection mold components, make our own inks, assemble, decorate, print, package and ship from our state of the art facility,” said Josh Goodelman, Stuart’s son and vice president of the company.

In 2004 Liqui-Mark expanded into the promotional products industry, and within one year became a Five Star Supplier.

“Because we manufacture many items here in our USA factory, we can be more creative, offer customization, provide fast turn-around and allow small minimum order requirements for custom components and packaging,” Goodelman said.

Liqui-Mark’s product line offers a wide variety of writing instruments. The product line includes ballpoint, roller ball and fiber point pens, highlighters, dry erase markers, crayons, washable markers, permanent markers, glue and more.

“Our ability to design unique, innovative and patented items such as our Crayo-Craze Crayon Wheel has helped our growth, along with trademarked brands such as our growing stylus pen brand iWriter” said Goodelman. “We have a great team of employees who all play an active role in the success of our business. We are a family-owned business from New York. We work hard and we hustle. We treat every employee and customer like they are a part of our family. For me it is a genuine pleasure to work with my dad and brother every day. I am beyond proud of my dad as we hit this milestone in the lifecycle of our business. We truly have a great entrepreneurial story.”
