Meet Fas-T Mask: A Little Plastic Device Turns Your T-shirt Into a Face Mask

Have you ever been in this situation:

You have to make a quick trip to the store to pick something up for dinner. You get to the door and realize you forgot your face mask at home, and you can’t go in without it. What do you do? Do you run home again and get it? Do you give up and starve?

One guy thinks he’s invented a product that quickly solves this problem. Using a 3-D printer, Kurt Schramm designed a plastic device that people can attach to their T-shirts, using the fabric to create a face covering that’s much more elegant than just pulling your face into your shirt like a turtle.

“There’s a large group of people who are just trying to hold their shirt going into stores, and the idea kind of popped into my head,” Schramm told KRQE. “It does not feel nearly as restrictive when it comes to breathing.”

Thus, the FasT-Mask was born.

It’s a small, angled piece of plastic with two hooks that fit over the person’s nose and attach to their shirt, making it more secure and hands-free than holding a shirt over your nose for an extended period of time.

It comes in multiple colors, too. Mask regulations aren’t going anywhere for a while, and people are always looking for something portable for bringing with them.

As scientific experts have pointed out, any face covering is better than nothing. While T-shirt material might not be quite as effective as a dedicated face mask, it still does its part in minimizing the spread of the virus.
