Promo Marketing’s Power House Power Meeting Takes Wine Country—Here’s Everything You Missed

As we get ready to close out our eighth (yes, eighth!) year of Power Meetings, there are a few more stops left on our travel itinerary for 2019. But our last Power Meeting, a Power House event for the industry’s top sellers, took us to Napa, Calif., where top distributors and suppliers joined the Promo Marketing team for a fun and engaging three-day event in beautiful wine country. We definitely weren’t one to wine at this event. Everything was grape! (Sorry, we couldn’t resist.)

Here are three things you missed in Napa if you weren’t at the event. There’s always next time!

1. Wine Tasting and Cornhole Tournament

Registration day started off with a casual wine tasting at Vermeil Wines. Here, there was some fun mixed with light networking time for suppliers and distributors that had an earlier flight. Next, the group moved on to dinner at the Westin for an incredible first night filled with hors d’oeuvres, live music from our new favorite group, The Albertson Duo, and of course, a cornhole tournament.

Yes, cornhole was totally the move for this trip! It didn’t matter if you were good or awful at it, but it was a little friendly competition to start everyone’s week off right.

Plus, the prize wasn’t so bad. Check it out below!

2. Locations, Locations, Locations!

After the first day of meetings, we ended up at the local Oxbow Market where attendees were able to grab a quick bite to eat from an array of local vendors, including Hog Island Oyster Bar, Five Dot Ranch and Cookhouse and Gott’s Roadside.

From there, the group headed over to Black Stallion Estate Winery, where there was even more wine tasting and a tour of one of the lovely wineries Napa has to offer.

Casey Silseth, national account manager for HALO Branded Solutions, summarized his time in Napa in just three words: wine, win and work (network).

“It was a fantastic three days in Napa Valley with suppliers and distributors who are focused on solutions to help you dive deeper into your client and win more market share,” he said. “Power Meeting Napa is different from other events you have been to or heard of. The focus is on networking and how we can partner with one another to really set ourselves apart from the competition. They do this by creating more social settings and events, and keeping the meetings small. When was the last time you sat at a vineyard and closed a deal? Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event.”

3. Getting Connected

As we always say around here, this industry is all about relationships. The Power House event was small (even by our cozy Power Meetings standards), giving everyone the time they need to make connections. Plus, the location and casual feel of the event made everyone more comfortable.

But don’t take it from us. Take it from the distributors and suppliers who were there:

“The location was amazing!” said Heather Comerford, president and CEO at 1338Tryon. “The hotel was an upscale, engaging property with lots to do and see. I loved the opportunity to network in a casual environment. The food was great and the staff was friendly. Excursions were once in a lifetime!”

“The event was well-organized with quality balance of meeting times and networking with fellow distributors and suppliers from all over the country,” said Stacy Garrett, senior account executive at Ideation Creative Brand Management.

“What a terrific event!! Promo Marketing did a fantastic job and the location could not be any better,” said Rena Ashfeld, national sales manager for Advance Corporation. “We had a great time meeting up with old friends and making new ones. Looking forward to the next event.”
