The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced three recalls this week, including children’s pajamas and hooded sweatshirts as well as Urban Outfitters teacups.
K.J. Sportswear California, Huntington Beach, Calif., recalled about 9,200 of its Thor One- and Two-piece Pajamas as they failed to meet federal flammability standards, posing a risk of burn injury. No injuries were reported.
The pajamas were constructed out of 94/6 polyester/spandex, had “Thor” printed on the front and came in three different color patterns—blue and white, red and white, and pink and black. Sizes ranged from six to 12 months to youth large.
The pajamas, which were sold at authorized Thor motocross retailers nationwide for $30 to $45 from June 2013 through December 2014, should be returned to the manufacturer for a full refund.
For more information, call K.J. Sportswear California at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT weekdays at (844) 757-3225 or email [email protected].
The other children’s apparel recall came from Kroger, Cincinnati, Ohio, which recalled the Kid’s Korner Children’s Zipper Hooded Sweatshirts due to the zipper pull detaching and posing as a choking hazard for young children. While Kroger received one report of this happening, no injuries were reported.
The boys’, girls’ and toddlers’ cotton/poly blend fleece sweatshirts have a front zipper, two front pockets and knit ribbing around the wrists and waist. They were available in 62 different prints and solid colors in infant, toddler and children’s size 4.
In addition to Kroger, the sweatshirts, which should be returned to the retailer, were sold at Fry’s Marketplace, Dillons, Fred Meyer, King Soopers Marketplace, Smith’s and other stores nationwide for $8 to $10 between June 2014 and February 2015.
For more information, call Kroger at (800) 576-4377 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET weekdays or visit www.kroger.com.
Finally, Philadelphia-based Urban Outfitters recalled its “Cheeky” Teacups, which were labeled as “microwave safe,” but when microwaved, its gold paint accents could spark, posing a fire hazard. The retailer has received one report of sparking, but no injuries were reported.
The 6 oz. teacups came in four varieties with floral motifs and gold accents with phrases, such as “booze,” “hot mess” and “more whiskey please,” painted on them. The bottom of the cup has “Dishwasher Safe,” “Microwave safe” and “Made in China” printed on it.
The recall involves about 11,640 units in the United States and about 1,730 in Canada. The product has been sold at Urban Outfitters locations nationwide from August 2014 to January 2015 for $16. The cups are still available on www.urbanoutfitters.com.
The voluntary recall offers a full refund. For more information, call Urban Outfitters at (800) 282-2200 anytime, email [email protected] or visit www.urbanoutfitters.com.
