Roger Henry, CEO of Staples Promotional Products, To Retire

Staples Promotional Products announced CEO Roger Henry will be retiring at the end of February 2009. Henry has served for more than 28 years at the business (formerly known as American Identity prior to its acquisition by Staples in 2007). He was president since 1995 and CEO since 2003.

Henry began his career with Swingster in 1980. With the purchase of K-Products in 1998, the name changed to American Identity. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a domestic apparel manufacturer to the largest distributor of promotional products in North America. Other operations include Canada, the UK and partnerships serving customers worldwide.

According to Jay Baitler, executive vice president of the Staples Advantage division, “American Identity, now known as Staples Promotional Products, has been one of the best acquisitions in the history of Staples in great part due to Roger’s incredible leadership and the remarkable team that he developed over time.” Baitler continued, “His legacy will always remain in the culture he created, and we wish him all the best in the future.”

Richard Witaszak has been promoted to general manager and will assume the leadership of the business. “I have the utmost confidence in Rich and the management team to take the business forward,” said Henry. “We have a platform for strong growth as we’ve become the premier provider in our industry.”
