Sportco Announces Merger With Skyline Screenprinting and Embroidery

Sportco LLC, Naperville, Ill., and Skyline Screenprinting and Embroidery Inc., Addison, Ill., announced plans to merge in the fourth quarter of 2014. The merger will bring together two companies with over 25 years of experience in the apparel decoration industry.
The combined entity, whose name will be announced upon completion of the merger, will provide cutting-edge apparel decoration to the promotional-product distributor and team dealer marketplace. The new company will relocate to a facility in Naperville, Ill. later this year.
“This merger will create a truly full-service, one-stop shop for apparel decoration,” said Sportco vice president Joe Baum. “Our expanded array of services will include screen printing, transfers, embroidery, laser appliqué and chenille.
“It’s a very exciting time for both companies, but especially for our customers,” Baum continued. “With our recent investments in new equipment, and a new strategic focus on decoration, we’ll be the single go-to partner for all our clients’ contract decoration needs.”
“The Skyline team brings unmatched expertise in all types of athletic printing,” added Baum. “Each company’s clients will find a lot to like with the new combined entity.”
“I’m proud to join forces with Sportco,” said Skyline president Carl Mucha. “Both companies have long been committed to unsurpassed quality and service, so it’s a great fit. Together, we can service all facets of the promotional product distributor and team businesses, from simulated four-color process to athletic uniform names and numbers.”
In order to focus all of its efforts and energy on apparel decoration, Sportco will no longer offer the Sportco Authentic fleece and Gabrielle Rohde-Royce women’s corporate casual lines after the merger closes. Sportco has placed both lines on clearance while it sells through its current stock. In all other phases, however, it remains business as usual.
“Sportco and Skyline customers should continue to place their orders as they do today,” said Baum. “Both companies will be operating at full capacity and with the same commitment to excellence all the way through the merger.”
