Staples Promotional Products Announces Daron Hines as New President

Staples Promotional Products, Overland Park, Kansas, announced that Daron Hines will take over as president for the office supply giant’s promotional products distributor unit. Hines has 20 years of leadership experience with other well-known brands such as General Mills, Morton Salt and the J.M. Smucker Company.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Staples Promotional Products,” Hines said in a statement to PPAI. “SPP is an industry leader with an incredibly innovative team and an unparalleled global supplier network. I look forward to working alongside the team to build upon SPP’s successful track record of creating meaningful brand experiences for employees, consumers and stakeholders.”

Hines will report directly to John Lederer, chairman of the board for Staples and interim CEO. Lederer is currently serving in the role after previous CEO Sandy Douglas stepped down last June. That move came as Staples continued pursuing an acquisition of Office Depot and Office Max.

Hines’ role at Staples Promotional Products will reportedly focus on profit-and-loss management and developing brand experiences for customers and stakeholders.

He most recently served as vice president of consumer and industrial for the Americas at Morton Salt, leading the company’s Morton, Windsor and Lobos brands in North and South America. He also served as vice president of sales and channels, and as vice president of trade marketing, for the J.M. Smucker Company.
