An Albany, N.Y., woman wanted to help make sure that foster children in the area received gifts this holiday season. So, Amanda Zara decided to look for ways to set up sponsorships so children could receive gifts.
“It’s any impact or any inference I can make, even in just one life, it would mean the world to me,” she told ABC News 10. “We created a T-shirt. It’s a T-shirt campaign. One T-shirt bought is one child sponsored.”
Through a partnership with the Berkshire Farm Center, which specializes in helping children, customers can purchase a T-shirt for $25 (larger donations are accepted).
“For many of us, it’s a very happy time of year with friends and family, but for foster children it’s the worst time of year, because it’s a remembrance of what they don’t have,” Julie Brennan of Berkshire Farm Center told ABC News 10.
“Friends and family, and even people that would never necessarily donate, I think they like the feeling of giving to something greater than themselves and really being able to make an impact, especially right here in our own backyard,” Zara said.
As of Tuesday, Zara already has sold 71 T-shirts.
