The Los Angeles Lakers celebrated Kobe Bryant’s birthday on Aug. 23 by giving newborns who share the late basketball icon’s birthday a special gift from the team.
Through a partnership with UCLA Health, the Lakers gave newborns and their families a gift bag featuring a letter from the team, KB-branded gear and Lakers merchandise.
“On this special day, we want to honor Kobe Bryant and celebrate you, the letter said, according to Fox Bangor. “Kobe loved his family, and so this Kobe Day, we’re giving you and your family three shirts: two for your loved ones and one for you to grow into some day.”

The letter concluded with “Lakers family is for life” (even the most stubborn Boston transplant living in Los Angeles has to feel good about that one), adding a nice personalized touch. It’s a good use of a simple printed product to tell a more complete story and tie the whole package together.
