Tim Hortons Introduces ‘Tims Run Club’ Apparel Capsule for National Coffee Day

Apparently National Coffee Day is right around the corner, and to celebrate going on a “Tims Run,” Tim Hortons is back with another apparel capsule drop: The Tims Run Club.

It’s a clever play on words. A “Tims Run” of course being slang for going to pick up coffee at Tim Hortons, but also referencing running clubs popular in cities across North America, since the apparel is mostly influenced by athletic wear and streetwear.

The collection, which goes on sale online on Sept. 29, includes a windbreaker, a cap, socks, slides, sweatbands and a long sleeve T-shirt. Most of it comes in a white and red color scheme, with “Tims Run Club” branding in various locations, as well as “Always Fresh” printed on the slides. It also features a cute little logo of a Tim Hortons cup with legs and arms.

The windbreaker also comes in a black and red option, and both color options are spill-proof, according to Hype Beast, so no worries if you dribble a little coffee on there.

“Thousands of Canadians are members of the Tims Run Club without even knowing it,” the Tims Run Club website says. “They make a daily run, before work, at lunch, before the drive home to Tims to grab some of their [favorites]. It’s the only Run Club with absolutely no running. Because a Tims Run is a run you can do from the comfortable seat of your car. That you can do in slides and socks as you walk home. That doesn’t require a km/h tracking watch. It’s the best kind of run.”

Tim Hortons previously joined the apparel capsule and branding game with its collaboration with Canada’s other favorite son, Justin Bieber. The TimBiebs collection included a menu item and related apparel, and was an instant hit up in the Great White North.

Beyond the good design, holiday tie-in and wordplay in this promotion, it also creates incentive for people to sign up for Tims Rewards, as members get first dibs on the items before the general public. Since this is a limited-supply release, there’s a good chance things sell out fast, so customers who aren’t already members will likely sign up if for no other reason than to snag a piece of apparel or two.

We can’t help but feel that a certain American coffee and donut chain, whose tagline specifically includes the word “runs,” dropped the ball here a little bit.
