WorkPlace Media Announces Westward Expansion with VP Hire De Jong

In a move signaling the coast-to-coast demand from economically challenged advertisers for more effective channels of marketing, Cleveland-based WorkPlace Media, a marketing firm that targets consumers directly at work, is going west with the appointment of Los Angeles-based Robert De Jong as vice president of business development. De Jong served 22 distinguished years at ADVO, the nation’s largest direct mail company.

According to De Jong, “We are at a pivotal moment in time in how advertisers interact with consumers. Never before have advertisers faced such pressure to connect with consumers in a meaningful way that demonstrates a real understanding of the challenges they face during a slowdown.” De Jong continued, “The economic downturn presents an incredible opportunity for advertisers to gain superior ROI by delivering targeted, relevant messages to consumers in their workplace, an uncluttered environment where the majority of their spending decisions are made.”

In his new role, De Jong will be responsible for guiding the continuous growth of the company, with a special concentration on the West Coast, a region the company looks to penetrate more fully in 2009 and beyond.

The company’s client base consists of more than 100 national brands, including McDonald’s, Cadbury Adams, Wrigley and Applebee’s. “We couldn’t be more excited about increasing our presence on the West Coast under Bob’s impressive leadership,” commented Stephanie Molnar, CEO of WorkPlace Media. “As a business developer, his instincts are unmatched. Western retail, restaurant, grocery and convenience store chains, as well as packaged goods, will welcome our fresh, effective approach to growing their businesses.”
