MeiLin Wan, vice president of textile for Applied DNA Sciences, joins the Print & Promo Marketing Podcast to discuss a study that revealed cotton sourced from China’s Xinjiang province in 19% of textile products sold in the U.S. and abroad. Many of these fibers were mixed with cotton from other sources, and Wan says it’s part of a larger issue within the textile world of “greenwashing,” or a facade of environmentalism.
Listen in as Wan and host Brendan Menapace discuss the continued presence of Xinjiang cotton in apparel products, the efforts to crack down on products using forced labor, and how apparel suppliers and distributors can be positive their products are manufactured and sourced ethically.
