We all engage in mental tug of war.
On the left side of the rope is our past, our resentments, our bad habits, our failures and our fears.
On the right side of the rope is our future, our hopes, our dreams and our confidence in achieving an amazing life.
The forces on the left side of the rope are very powerful. They are actual events and emotions we have experienced and felt. As such, they can pull very hard against the right side of the rope.
The forces on the right side of the rope are not as powerful because they are not real events and emotions. We all know we need to focus on our future. We all know we need to let go of the past. But the tug of war is very real and very hard to win.
The key to winning the tug of war is to drop the rope. Leave all our past, our resentments, our bad habits and our fears behind, and focus our full energy on our future, our hopes, and our confidence in achieving an amazing life.
Win the tug of war.
Drop the rope.
