Irving, Texas-based Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) announced Lewiston, Maine, distributor Geiger has pledged a $10,000 challenge gift to the PPEF Named Scholarship in memory of industry leader Glen R. Holt, MAS, who served on the Geiger corporate board of directors from 2002 to 2008. Geiger will match funds up to $10,000 made by those wishing to honor Holt.
“Glen was a very special person to all of us at Geiger,” said Peter Geiger. “He served on our board of directors for six years and the company Holt Marketing, founded by his wife Laura, and son, Tim, became part of the Geiger family in 2000. With our challenge gift we wanted to highlight Glen’s importance to our industry and tangibly express our appreciation for his many contributions to our company by making this gift to PPEF in his memory–and to encourage others to do the same.”
The Geiger gift is the first to challenge other industry leaders also to contribute to the memorial scholarship established to honor Holt who passed away in May.
“Glen would be extremely pleased to know a scholarship in his memory was established through PPEF,” said Laura Holt, CAS. “He would be even more gratified to know that Geiger, a company he was very committed to, would demonstrate its love and appreciation to him by such a generous expression of support to a cause he truly believed in.”
Glen Holt passed away on May 7, at age 76. Holt’s career spanned 48 years in the industry, most recently as president of Glen Holt International LTD.
Holt enjoyed an accomplished career starting with Washington, Mo., supplier HAZEL Promotional Products in 1960. In 1981, he founded business services provider, CERTIFIED MARKETING CONSULTANTS, LTD., specializing in bringing new suppliers to the industry, mergers and acquisitions and executive referrals.
PPEF Named Scholarships are established to ensure long-term memorials that endure over several years to assist students in pursuing their college educations.
