Microsoft is collaborating with electronic music duo The Chainsmokers to create a one-of-a-kind Xbox One S with a special light-up chassis for a giveaway event. The console’s light-up design is intended to mimic the way a DJ manipulates light and sound.

This isn’t the first time a video game console has had a promotional tie-in. Video game franchises like “Halo,” “Destiny,” and “Call of Duty” have created themed consoles. But, this is a new spin—collaborating with someone or something outside of the video game world to create a promotional console.
According to Gears of Biz, this won’t be the last time Microsoft does this, though.
Gears of Biz writes:
The special Xbox One S in partnership with The Chainsmokers is just the first of the many custom consoles that Microsoft is planning to create with various celebrities and brands. While Microsoft has not revealed the celebrities and brands that will also create custom Xbox One S consoles, at least some of them will be unveiled over the rest of the year.
According to Windows Central, Microsoft plans to work with big-name musicians, athletes, TV stars, fashion personalities and more in the near future.
Here’s hoping that we can someday get our hands on a “MacGyver”-themed Xbox held together by bubble gum and toothpicks. (We aren’t holding our breath, though.)
