No Strings Attached: 5 Fun ‘N Sync-inspired Promotional Looks

It’s going to take some time to get over this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). Particularly, Miley Cyrus twerking with oversized teddy bears. (Btw, Happy 52nd Birthday, Billy Ray Cyrus!)

Back in the day, the VMAs were TV’s biggest night for kids like me. Fast-forward 15-plus years later and my time is now (better) spent watching “Breaking Bad.” With celebrities upholding a tradition of shock tactics, music videos casted to YouTube and a subculture of “brat-pop,” the VMAs often miss the mark. Despite this, the award show sometimes manages to entertain audiences with an offbeat musical pairing or a surprise reunion.

Case in point, ‘90s fangirls across the country were treated to a medley of Justin Timberlake’s greatest hits—and if you blinked, an ‘N Sync reunion. To commemorate this big night in boy-band history, here’s a fun way to use promotional apparel and accessories to help clients channel their inner pop royalty personas.

Justin Timberlake. Remember when JT embraced his voluminous blonde curls? That is, when he wasn’t taming his mop with a paisley head kerchief. Give a nod to the early 2000s with a more updated look. S&S Activewear’s Outdoor Cap Bandana comes in basic black with pre-formed ties for easy wear.

J.C. Chasez. Arguably ‘N Sync’s “other front man,” J.C.’s fashion sensibilities are synonymous with leather jackets, fur accessories—even leather trimmed in fur. Help clients achieve J.C.’s style with Canada Sportswear Corp.’s Leather Jacket. Made of 100 percent heavy gauge full grain cowhide leather, the jacket features two front pockets, a heavy-duty metal center front zipper and thermal insulation.

Lance Bass. Though he’s since traded in his casual threads for a more sophisticated look, Lance often opted to rock a T-shirt—particularly of the V-neck variety. The Gildan Softstyle V-Neck T-Shirt from Imprints Wholesale is perfect for clients looking to model the Lance look. The 4.5 oz., 100 percent preshrunk cotton jersey knit T-shirt has a rib knit mitered V-neck collar, along with double-needle stitched sleeves and bottom hems.

Joey Fatone. When he wasn’t showcasing his hair color du jour (e.g., fuchsia, frosted tips and the like), Joey could be seen sporting a fedora. New Age Inc.’s Fedora Hat recalls the golden era of Fatone Fashion. The Fedora-style structured hat is made of polyester jacquard fabric. It comes in large.

Chris Kirkpatrick. Poor Chris. While the former star has been relegated to signing autographs at minor league baseball games, he will certainly be keeping colorblock alive. The Colorblock Braided Jersey from Heritage Sportswear Inc. is perfect for members of Team Chris. The 6.5 oz., 100 percent cotton jersey features contrasting color raglan sleeves, buttons and inside placket.
