As part of a long tradition of giving back to the local community, employees at The Vernon Company’s home office in Newton, Iowa recently donated back-to-school supplies and backpacks to the Salvation Army of Newton.
During the last week of July and first week of August, a number of employees from all levels of the organization contributed to the fundraising effort.
“I’m always amazed at the generosity of our people,” remarked Chris Vernon, co-CEO of The Vernon Company.
With items ranging from paper, pencils and crayons to calculators and youth-sized backpacks, this annual donation drive is coordinated by the employee-led Vernon Activity Committee. Items collected are expected to directly impact 83 school-aged children in Jasper County, Iowa.
