Beacon Promotions, New Ulm, Minn., is supporting the Brown County United Way, which supports numerous programs in the county, such as Committee Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) House, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, scouting programs, a backpack program (school supplies), a day of caring that helps residents with household projects and sports camps.
The organization distributed 500 backpacks with age-appropriate school supplies before the school year this fall. It also awarded more than $33,000 in scholarships to 337 young people to participate in after-school activities through the scholarship program.
The week started with a presentation from Brown County United Way representatives about the CADA House and services offered. Through the week, there were numerous events for Beacon Promotions employees to get involved and make donations, such as a penny war (coin collection), a silent auction and bake sale, as well as monetary pledges. The penny war included 11 teams and raised $474.
Fifty-seven employees contributed to the Brown County United Way through payroll deductions this year—totaling $5,636.
