FedEx indicated that late delivery on some holiday packages was due to volumes that “far exceeded all previous records,” according to The Boston Globe. Last week, the shipping company blamed bad weather for possible tardiness.
FedEx said in a statement to The Boston Globe that it received “an unprecedented surge of last-minute e-commerce shipments,” which added to the company’s concern on inclement weather on Dec. 24.
FedEx has not elaborated on why it wasn’t able to handle the last-minute surge, but The Boston Globe noted that United Parcel Service reported completion for all scheduled deliveries ahead of Dec. 25.
