American Apparel Reports September 2008 Comparable Store Sales

Los Angeles-based American Apparel Inc. announced the company’s comparable store sales (unaudited) for the month of September 2008 and for the third quarter that ended September 30, 2008.

American Apparel reported for the month of September 2008, sales for stores open for more than 12 months increased 15 percent over the year-ago period, on a constant currency basis. For the month of September 2007, comparable store sales increased 35 percent. There were 150 stores in the sales comparison for September 2008.

For the third quarter ending September 30, 2008, comparable store sales increased 24 percent over the third quarter of 2007. As previously reported, for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008 comparable store sales increased 27 percent.

American Apparel opened 12 new retail stores during the month of September. American Apparel has opened a total of 48 retail stores in 2008 through September 30, 2008, including 33 stores in the recently completed third quarter.

American Apparel intends to file its third quarter 2008 financial results on Monday, November 10. The company will give further information regarding the timing of a conference call to discuss its third quarter financial results at a later date.
